Hi,

Wiliammont who you seem to be asking did post that in the end that he found that it was s oftware conflict caused by an item Called iSyncr (which I had never heard of)

Will's 24th August post

Hello

I've finally managed to resolve this problem. It turned out that Applecare doesn't cover software conflicts of this kind. I was advised to remove preferences files one by one in order to identify the conflicting file. In the end, I scanned through the prefs to see what third-party applications I'd added in recent months. I hit on the suspect file - a music-synching app called iSyncr - right away. Once I'd removed the application and prefs file, logged out and logged back in again my camera was fine.

Will

I know I'm a bit late to this thread but I've just resolved an iSight problem and the outcome may be of some help.

I tried everything to get it working that was suggested by Apple - it was driving me nuts... both my imac and powerbook had decided that my isight cameras were not working. Finally, thanks to an Applecare assistant we discovered that a Canon scanner application that was in my USER >>STARTUP ITEMS on both machines was somehow blocking iSight from functioning. So, try removing startup items. Or, as suggested, making a new user account and logging into that will do the same thing... however you must log out of the rogue account first for obvious reasons. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that.

I will try to remember that as I am sure EZ Jim will as well.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Hi there i have just started having trouble with my camera on my macbook, I am not as technically gifted with mac computers (or any computer) I first noticed it on skype but it seems as though the the camera is no longer recognised on anything i have tried looking through the majority of the helps.

I recently bought FM 2012 and as part of that had to install a programme called steam, which allows online playing (but thats not frigging working anyway). Any help in sorting this would be appreciated.

Cheers

Photo Booth (a software app in Mac OS X) does not work with Skype (a third-party, non-Apple, software app.

(1) If your problem is with your Mac's built-in iSight, it should not work with any app in any user account you test. Follow the suggestions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

(2) If your only problem in any user account is when trying to use Skype, see Skype help: http://community.skype.com/ Skype offers full range service including FAQs, searchable knowledge base, dedicated discussions forum specific to Skype issues, and individual support by their technical staff.

All Skype-specific problems are best handled by the Skype developers and users. They can best tell you how to use their Skype software with your system.

(1) Having tried all the suggestions from Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 without success, double-check that you used the correct SMC/PMU "reset" procedure suggested there for your particular Mac model.

(2) If the appropriate reset does not correct your problem for any app in every user account, yours is most likely a hardware problem that will require a professional fix.

Unless you have a current backup, make one now.

Then use Apple's final "Troubleshooting" suggestion: "... contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service."

(3) If you want to try one more thing yourself before seeking professional help, use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions and then download and apply the 10.7.2 Combo Update:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1459

Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart that completes the Combo update. Properly applying the latest Mac OS X Combo update can sometimes correct the trouble.

Hi,

If in System Profiler/System Info depending on OS version you do Not see the Internal iSight (or Face Time) camera listed then the computer has Lost Contact with it.

EZ Jim has posted the Link further down the thread (I am looking in Threaded view)

Follow the suggestions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

At the end of this Test and suggestion Article it suggests a SMC/PMU reset and has links to those Instructions.

This only works if the lost of contact is a software issue.

Hardware Faults will not be solved by this.
