iChat 3 v iChat 2

With all of the pain that users seem to be experiencing with iChat 3, is it not sensible to use iChat 2?

I'm new to this (only just getting a webcam on new imac), but the pain I've gone through trying to get it to work, and not yet succeeding, is making me think the old version is the way to go.

Am I right that it didn't have all these connection problems?

Any version other than iChatAV 3.x CANNOT be installed on a machine running Tiger. I've tried at the request of other users (use the search) and it is not possible. If you wish to downgrade, you will have to downgrade to Panther, 10.3.

I suppose that it just boils down to registering my annoyance at Apple for letting something go out on Tiger that seems like a throwback to Windows 3.11.

And for not getting their sortware sorted for use by Windows users- even Microsoft make Messenger for Mac.
