Hello,
For some reason my battery status icon isn't showing in the menu bar.
When i open up the energy saver pane in preferences, The box is unticked. When i try to tick it, it for some reason decides to untick itself straight away.
Rather strange! Any suggestions would be great. I've rebooted quite a few times but it doesn't seem to fix the problem.
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), 2.66Ghz Intel Core2Duo/8GB/500GB
How do I reset the two things that I just deleted
(HD > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systempreferences.plist
HD > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systemuiserver.plist ) ?
Trash the following two plists, reboot and reset.
HD > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systempreferences.plist
HD > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
Tried that but doesn't seem to have worked.
Also, in the energy saver pane it says battery life is 0%, though iStats picks up the battery fine. 😕
OK, login to another User account and see what it does in there.
Unfortunately the same problem there when I logged into the guest account.
OK, it looks like it's system-wide then. Try replacing this Energy Saver preference pane (if you are running OS 10.6.7) and reboot.
HD > System > Library > PreferencePanes > EnergySaver.prefPane
Having some issues locating the the current prepane file to replace, it doesn't appear to be in that folder, it only contains non apple prepanes (called 'other' in system preferences).
I tried cmd + click but that doesn't reveal the prefpane either for some reason.
Go to System/Library/CoreServices/MenuExtras/ and drag Battery.Menu to the Menu bar. Drop it when a green plus bubble appears.
it dissapears as soon as i drop it in.
Are you looking in the System folder? You should see all the default System Preferences in there.
This doesn't seem to fix the problem. it still acts the same when i replace it and restart
Reinstall your system then.
