Cannot pair my Plantronics Voyager Pro Bluetooth headset with Windows 7 in Bootcamp

When I try to pair my Plantronics Voyager Pro Bluetooth headset with Windows under Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro, Windows reports that it is unable to find and install the drivers for this device.

I am able to pair this same headset with the same MBP under OSX and with my Sony and Dell laptops running Windows without any issues. This leads me to believe that there may be an issue with Apple's Windows drivers.

Anyone else seeing this?

Come on Apple, we need proper drivers!!

You should start your own thread. Why should Apple provide Windows drivers? After booting into Windows download and install the Windows drivers for your device. Start your own thread if you are having other problems with Boot Camp.

Apple provide Windows drivers for their specific hardware, such as their keyboard, their trackpad, their chipset, etc.

In this specific case, Apple's Bluetooth stack is based on a customized version of Broadcom's Bluetooth stack. Alas, Broadcom's Bluetooth drivers won't work on MacBook Pro's.

Apple's drivers do not correctly report the device ID and capabilities to the OS and, thus, the OS is unable to determine the correct drivers and services to install for the aforementioned headset.

Apple: Please update your Bluetooth drivers to Broadcom's latest version which resolves a number of annoyances and issues.

Bootcamp Bluetooth audio Drivers

Bootcamp bluetooth drivers for windows 7 of the new BCM20702 card are definetly faulty you will notice mainly if you try to pair a Bluetooth Audio Device.

Please help pushing some pressure on Apple to provide appropriate bluetooth drivers for the new bluetooth card: BCM20702 BT V4 + HS, built in Macbook Air MID2011, Mackbook Pro 2011, iMAC and mini. Broadcom drivers will not install properly either.

You may want to use the link above to let them now that the actual drivers makes virtually any audio bluetooth device UNUSABLE:

Not sure why Broadcomm's WIDCOMM drivers that you linked to work for you, but they haven't and don't work on my early-2011 17" MBP and Plantronics headset - the app starts, but just sits there at "detecting Bluetooth devices".

The only way to get my MBP to talk to my Plantronics headset is via the Plantronics bluetooth dongle. But of course, having to carry, insert and remove a USB dongle every time I want to use it with my MBP is a PITA.

My Sony Vaio, on the other hand, quite happily pairs with the Plantronics headset WITHOUT the dongle.

****. Sorry that didn't work for you. I ran the update tool which detected the hardware, downloaded the appropriate driver stack and installed it.

It shows up in device manager as Broadcom Bluetooth 3.0 USB version 6.5.1.2100 dated 1/26/2012.

Silly question, but did you try running the update tool as administrator (right click > run as administrator)?

I have a Logitech H800 headset and I am having difficult pair them using the

Apple Bluetooth from Boot Camp CD that I made. I can pair my cellphones,

but the stereo audio for the headset is a problem.

I tried the Broadcom drivers and it hangs from the start when detecting bluetooth

device and it never goes to the next steps validating, downloading and installing

bluetooth software as on the menu.

I had problems with my initial install of bootcamp with this and I had installed bootcamp

Windows 7 on the other partition since early March 2012. I decided to do a reinstall

(wiping out Bootcamp from Mac) of Windows 7 just this morning and I am still having

problems with this Bluetooth feature.

I will just give up using this on the Windows 7 side (Bootcamp) as I have no problems

pairing the headset on the Mac OS side.

Do you have any alternative suggestions how to get this to work?

Thank you.

For those following this thread, I thought I'd share a recent update:

I've (clean) installed Windows 8 on my MacBook Pro and have also replaced my Plantronics Voyager with the newer Legend.

I'm happy to report that new Legend pairs correctly with my MBP when running Windows and when running OSX!

Oh ... and if you're interested in the Legend - it's a great device. In fact, I picked up the UC-M version from an Amazon vendor and it came with the charging carrying-case & desk-charger too for less than the cost of the $99 stand-alone device + individual parts 🙂
