Why doesn't Goodreader appear in the "Open In" menu for attachments in Mail?

When I activate the "Open In" menu for an attachment in Mail, several applications appear, but not Goodreader. But Goodreader's documentation says that the "Open In" menu is one way to transfer files into Goodreader. ???

iPad, iOS is 4.3.3

You can also try getting rid of other PDF apps: I had a similar issue with PDFs in SugarSync, and Goodreader wasn't appearing. I got rid of Stanza - still didn't appear. Then I got rid of Kobo - now Goodreader appears when I want to open a file from SugarSync.

I just hope I wasn't keeping Stanza or Kobo around for some important reason that I've forgotten.

Hi

Thanks Steve Go, it does appear that is the case, although why that is the case is beyond me. They implemented a scrolling mechanism, so there is no reason whatsoever to restrict the amount of items in the list. Its boogles the mind the stupid things apple will do in the name of what ? Useablility ? Seriously. The sad fact is I am fine on all file types except PDFs, as every app under the sun register with PDFs and I require all the apps I am using.

What interesting is that searching google I found out that the in the "jail broken" IOS this restrictions is reasily removed. So its not a technical limitation or oversight, its purposefully added restrictions, which leads straight back to the mind boggling part.

While I am still mostly an apple fan, little things like this will soon alow the competition to easily get an edge.

I hope this is something solved in the near future.

Hello everyone..

I Was facing similar problem about applications not appearing in "open in" menu...

Well, even I tried uninstalling and reinstalling applications a few times. It was still making no difference. But I later observed something..(I may be getting superstitious!! Or maybe I missed something completely)

1) I configured my work email to iOS native email client. So from here onwards at least that "Open In" menu started showing, which in non-native clients just refused to appear.

2) I was trying to open my docs in one signature app. When I tried to open any format other than PDF, like for example word, excel etc... this option did not appear... But when I opened PDF, it started appearing only for those attachments which were PDFs...

So in my case, this signature app appears in the "open in" menu only and only when I open PDF..

I Am going to try converting the attachment into PDF first and then trying to open the PDF into that signature app... Hope it works...

We have to keep trying certain dumb tricks till Apple fixes this problem once and for all.... PHEW!!!!
