can i delete the Mac OS X Install Data folder?

it's about 2.75 gb. can i safely delete it? if so, will software update no longer know what updates i've installed?

That would then be something left over from an installation, perhaps one that failed. It can be deleted safely.

at the top level of my drive, along with applications, library, system, documents, updater, users.


i'm on 10.6.6. the folder contains 30 files, 25 of them are .pkg files and 5 are named:


file:///Mac%20OS%20X%20Install%20Data/ia.log

file:///Mac%20OS%20X%20Install%20Data/index.product

file:///Mac%20OS%20X%20Install%20Data/MacOSXInstaller.choiceChanges

file:///Mac%20OS%20X%20Install%20Data/minstallconfig.xml

can i delete the Mac OS X Install Data folder?
