Best data collection apps???

I'm an arborist and am looking for an easy to use data collection app for iphone.

It would need to be able to convert to excel and if I could send it to my pc at work via email, while in the field, that would be great.

And if the form had the facility to capture an image to go with the data, then that would be just ace : )

Any suggestions?

iPhone 4, Windows Vista

Hi Drtreegirl,

I was handling digital transformation initiatives for a large social repairs firm earlier and we wanted to capture field data on the go for our electricians with a data capture tool. We did try a few form solutions like Device Magic, Go Formz, Streebo Mobile Forms etc., but I found the Streebo Solution to be most robust. With an easy integration capability and powered by industry leading IBM Forms Builder, this tool helped me capture images on the go, collect all the data of my field workers instantly and additionally, it would also work without any internet connectivity. I would suggest that you should give Streebo Mobile Forms a go.

Virtual Badge (https://virtualbadge.com/) is a good solution for data collection. You can create forms with various fields, including images. All forms are geolocated so you never lose time because you can't remember where that picture was taken at.

There's also a pretty nifty web interface that lets you and your foremen/administrators keep an eye on your workers and their work!

If you are working in the environmental services community, you should consider Wildnote. http://wildnoteapp.com

Wildnote is also a field data collection, management and reporting app, but made for those doing any type of environmental compliance and monitoring. Designed for companies working on environmental compliance, non-profits restoring our wetlands, and regulators charged with protecting our environment. Data exports to professional PDF reports, excel, excel pivot, and kml. One thing is that is really nice is that Wildnote has extensive, searchable plant and animal taxon lists that can be added to any survey making it great for biologists, botanists, etc.

I suggest you try an app called Fulcrum. The user is able to create almost any data collection Form you wish and it is very flexible as to the type of information collected.

it has a website where the forms are created and the data is collected for later download. The data is synced to the website from out in the field. It only costs $20/month/user. If the account is not going to be used for a few months it can be "parked" at no charge and then reactivated later when needed.

The website is http://fulcrumapp.com for a tour of its capabilities.

iFormBuilder.com has been doing data collection apps for iphone and ipads for years-- right now we have just updated for iOS7. If you are getting started with mobile data collection, this is an easy app to use, and it collects the data whether you are offline or online, then it syncs once it is in a wifi area.

You can also take pics, use mapping create multiple forms-- well I'm biased, but you should check it out how it helped an environmental engineering firm: https://www.iformbuilder.com/blog/dudeks-environmental-research-and-wildlife-act ivity/

Oh yeah, we also work on the "other guys'" smart devices! 🙂

FormEntry for Mac is now freemium, all you need is a Mac and FormEntry Touch installed on your iOS devices:

There's no subscription, no log in and it's not HTML web forms. It even works offline from the Internet. One of the cool things is the ability to map the form values to your existing PDFs.
