Duplicate files after a Carbonite Restore

I recently bought a new MBP to replace my old one. I use the Carbonite back up system. When my "restore" from Carbonite was completed, I noticed that it had taken up twice the amount on my HD than the size of the restore. Basically what it did was restore to both the Macintosh HD AND another location under "Places." My questions:

1) Any suggestions on the best way to remove the duplicated files from the location under "Places"?

2) Is the location under "Places" a user or just a partition on the hd?

3) Can the location under places be removed altogether, and would I want to do that?

Thanks for you help. As you can tell, I'm really new to all this.

Well it is not going to be a Partition unless you partitioned the new HD.

Could be a old system file preserved, look on your Macintosh HD for some such.

You don't explain so well the two different location. How about in finder you click your "places" in question and control click the title at top of window to show hierarchy, where does it reside?

Your Username should be one place where you expect your files to be.
