How do I get rid of Mac Defender
I some how was stupid enough to download this terrible virus or malware. Please tell me how to get rid of it.

Hey,
I downloaded this thing by accident this morning and have spent a number of hours trying to get rid of it. Along with it, somehow I ended up with other unwanted immoral-type websites being loaded onto Safari. I have deleted all cookies, history from Safari, and I am not sure if after getting rid of MacProtector it will take care of those sites as well. If you have any words of wisdom on not allowing those sites in, I will greatly appreciate it. Setting the pop up blocker does not work.

Yes, it's very simple NEVER download anything unless you have requested it first and if you don't know what it is don't download it. Also follow the links above they will provide instructions on how to rid your system of this Trojan.

Since you are getting offensive web sites coming up in Safari, you have actually installed MacProtector. MacProtector is opening those sites to try to convince you you've got a virus for it to remove. Follow the removal instructions at one of the links given previously, and that will not only take care of MacProtector, it will stop those sites from reopening. And if you actually "bought" MacProtector with your credit card, cancel that card immediately and dispute that charge.
