Need an official apple answer ...where?

Hi

I am in need for an official answer to a serivce question by apple. Browsing the site i couldnt find any email to adress my question.

In particular i want to know what happens regarding service if you buy an iphone from a carrier instead of an apple center.

Here in Greece there arent any apple center to buy an iphone so you must turn to gsm providers (cosmote, vodafone, wind) to buy one.

In case there is something wrong do they have the right to outsource service and open my iphone since iphone service is NOT officially supported in my country?

Anyone knows where i can get an official answer about this matter.

You wont believe what i am going through to get my iphone 4 repaired due to a malfuctioning microphone.

Many thanks to anyone who can supply me a contact email for apple europe.

First of all thank you very much for the replies.

Maybe i didnt made myself clear (excuse my bad english)

I know that the carrier is responsible for the service. The think i want is a contact email for apple europe.

The reason (making a veryyyy long story short) is:

My iphone 4 mic stoped working aka i could hear my caller but he couldnt...when i put the speaker on i could make him hear me ...same thing with handsfree. I tried everything i could...system restore/set as new etc...(keep in mind i had 3 iphones over the past years and never i had experienced any problem with them) ...also note that the iphone wasnt ever jailbroken.

I had a revo case with a zagg shield on from day 1 of purchase ...if i could saw you pictures of my iphone it was practically as it was when i opened it.

I took it to the carrier i bought it from and after about 2 weeks time ( ...yes 2 weeks to see what happened) he told me that the phone had taken humidity inside and that the dock connector was oxidised. I refuse to accept that since i had NEVER mishandled my iphone or any other device i had in the past 15 years and i was 100% sure i hadnt done anything to cause the malfuctioning.

They told me they would send photographic proof and they did.

Now here is the deal.

a) In the 2 photos there is NO SIGN/SERIAL NUMBER/IMEI that identifys my iphone...for all i know it can be any other phone.

b) As i know the carriers service are not authorized to open the iphone ...much less service it...they asked me to pay 152 eyros for a new dock connector ...a part that costs no more that 30-40 euros as i saw in the net. That ment that the iphone was put off warranty due to the hypothised humidity

ON THE VERY top of that i asked to see the phone myself to determine it was mine ....they REFUSED !!! and said that wasnt the policy of the carrier...aka whatever we tell you ITS DEFACTO no questions asked. Also they refused to tell me WHERE or WHAT company was responsible for the service. I mean imagine that....i was furious.

So i want to get an official answer from apple europe if the carriers have the right to outsource iphone service to other companies (clearly NOT official service) and IF these companies have the experience and the knowhow to REPLACE-REPAIR iphones. Also i would like to ask why the cost is so high for a dock connector that cost 30euros and needs 15minutes top to replace.

I had the phone for about 5 months its allready 20+ days in service and THERE IS NOONE to turn to. I payed 680 euros for it and thats the kind of service i get.

So where in gods name can i get an official answer WRITEN by apple ...isnt there a customer support email?

(Iphone call center in Greece cant do anything since the service is provided by the carriers.)

You can write to the mothership here:

Apple

1 Infinite Loop
Cupertino, CA 95014
408.996.1010

Or call them.

They will tell you that service in your country is provide through your cell provider. If they sent you photographic proof that the moisture sensors were triggered (turned pink or red) then Apple will tell you the same thing. Have you tried asking for a manager or Customer Service at your cell provider?

You can contact AppleCare in Greece here:

Greece 00800 44145417 www.apple.com/gr/support/

The think is that i learned about the liquid contact indicator (lqi) AFTER i sended the iphone for service so i didnt chech them myself.

Deggie believe me if you could read greek and made in search in google 95% of the phones (any phones sony-samsung etc) that go on service they get back out of warrany due to moisture!!! I mean its the common reason for every service here in greece...and thats what frustrates me. Its like we live in the amazon river..

Besides that if they are telling the truth (wich i doubt it) if they ARENT authorized to open the phone who can prove that it was MY error and not the error of the non authorized technician. And how can they repair iphones?

Does apple EVER repair iphones? I believe they send them to the factory to be refurbished and you get a replacement.

Am i right or?

Also im looking for an email to write to them...for gods shake you can even send an email to your bakery...apple DOESNT have an email where i can contact them?

Apple greece customer care cant do anything other than sympathize me...they arent responsible for iphones hence they cant help me..

About the customer service of my carrier...that the think i want to know exactly what is the iphone service policy and WHO is responsible for it...is it apple? or is it the carrier itself? If it is the carrier thats the worst scam i have ever witnessed in my 32 years of life...buy an iphone ...its apple you think aka great customer service...GET thousands to pay for a brand name and then screw them up when in need of service saying ITS NOT OUR FAULT carriers do the service and they can do whatever they want.

Yes, within a country where there is Apple service normally you receive a service replacement phone and Apple refurbishes the one you bring in. But if the moisture sensors have been triggered then they will not give you a service replacement, or work on your phone. They will sell you an out-of-warranty service replacement for a fee ($199 USD in the states).

If the cell provider is charged with providing service then they can indeed open the iPhone and do service on it. If, as you say, all Greek service providers are corrupt and douse all phones upon receipt there is nothing Apple, or Sony or Samsung or anyone else can do other than to stop selling their devices through these companies.

No, there is no email address. You can call AppleCare in your country, you can call the headquarters with the number I provided or, and this would be your best option, write a letter to Apple at their headquarters, include all pertinent information including copies of the photographs, and send it to Apple at their headquarters.

There is nothing more anyone here can do for you.

Can you point me to where this is officialy stated? Because i havent found nothing about it in apples site.

Just for laughs register to any major greek forum (for example insomnia.gr) and ask if it is common for service providers in greece to "blame" users of humidity...you will be suprised by the answers.

And by the way http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/2011/02/01/apple-relaxes-warranty-policy-invol ving-iphones-liquid-contact-indicator/

As it seems even a drop of your sweat can activate...whats the point then having an ipod/iphone if you cant use it while exercising or when you have sweaty hands for example?

It has already been posted here that the authorized cell providers in Greece supply service for iPhones. I don't know why you would think they would be prohibited from opening the iPhone if they are the official service provider.

As I said there is nothing more any user on this site can do for you. Write to Apple and include your link regarding phones and moisture sensors along with all the other information I suggested.

Thats because service is a pretty general word...what does it mean? For example i could get ford motors to send me all the cars to me and resell them to greece but when it come to service ...do i have to do it in conjuction with ford and get authorised personel that knows whats it doing or do i send the car to my grandpa who is fixing lawnmayers and call that a service?

Thats what i am trying to figure out. Because i suspect there is not a single apple certified techinician in the service company that my carrier has outsourced its iphone service.

Excuse me again if im not being clear. I just want to warn all other greek users of iphone what they are up against if they happen to have a malfunction.

Much appreciate your help.

Just for reference here are the 2 and only fotos that the service send me

Notice that there isnt anyway to identify thats my phone...and i see the lqi as white ...the inside lqi arent triggered and i dont have any clue where do the see the oxidized dock...
