iPad bought in US for use in UK? (What do I need to do?)

I am going to the US on holiday & want to buy an iPad2 (3G AT&T) for use in the UK when I get back.

I don't intend to activate the AT&T micro sim - I will get one from a UK service provider when I return.

My question is: Do I need to activate the iPad in the US, or can i do it on my UK iTunes account when I return which is my preference?

(note: my question on activation relates purely to the iPad, not the micro sim)

Thanks

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.2

You can do it when you get home.

If you want to use it in the US during your vacation have it activated at an Apple store and then reset it to factory defaults when you get home and start from scratch.

In theory you shouldn't have to do this but in practice it may save you "location" grief so decide when you get home.

You can use wifi only but as long as you remember that you have to cancel the AT&T plan before it automatically renews at the 30 day point there's no reason why you couldn't use 3G while on vacation as well.

It would be the same deal as an American vacationing in Europe with an iPad, just get a new sim card when you get back to the UK.
