I have re set the info in the settings and when viewed there the info is correct. When I get into the app store I still get the wrong ID no matter what I do... anyone have any suggestions

Guys... I posted the solution thatworked for me. When I looked up the subject there was nothing on it and nobody had any answer as to why there was some random Apple account asking me to sign into it. out of the kindness of my heart I decided to post what had worked for me and fixed my phone and I do not care what your opinion of it is, I was just putting something here in case there was somebody out there that this could help.

STOP TROLLING

To be correct, you told us what (you seem to think) annefrombath did.

There are 20 previous pages explaining how to correct it.

I have exactly the same problem on my Iphone6S+. The problem started with my photos no longer syncing to iCloud, and memory was down to 70MB so I went to the genius bar, where they recommended I do I reset and restore from iCloud back up. The operation was a success the memory increased to 3GB + and photo syncing restarted just fine. Shortly after, an entirely new pop up kept flashing on the screen "Sign in to iTunes Store Enter the password for your Apple ID namelastnam" The name last name format was very very long ago and stopped using it. Always signed into iTunes and iCloud with exactly my new log in email address / pwd format.

Somehow the old format got stuck in there. After reviewing all settings on my phone they are all updated with my existing valid log in. The flag that pops up does not allow me to change the user name, and there is no way to modify it or even find where it resides. I suspect this is what caused the above issues in the first place. I can't even log in with the old user name, as I do not have the pwd and iCloud/itunes does not even accept the format 'name last name'

How do you fix this??

OK, but is the "old format" version a different Apple account than the one you are currently using? In other words, did you set up a brand new Apple ID for the current one, or did you go into the old Apple ID and EDIT it to the new name?

If you set up a brand new ID, then that means that the apps that are asking for that ID were purchased with that ID. It is probably trying to download them as a part of the backup process, and it needs the old Apple ID password to do that.

If that is the case, and you don't remember the password, then go to: Apple - My Apple ID, and answer the Security Questions so you can change the password. I would recommend making the password to that ID the same as the password to your current ID so that regardless of which one pops up asking for a password, you would just type in the one used for both.

If you don't remember the answers to your Security Questions, you will have to contact Apple Support to get a reset link (they will want you to provide an answer to at least one of the questions): ACCOUNT SECURITY SUPPORT

Or - the other option would be to identify the apps purchased with that older ID, and to delete them and re-purchase (or re-download them if they were free) them under the current ID.

Best of luck,
