I have an old but perfectly serviceable B&W laser printer - an HP 4000N - with a Laserjet ethernet card installed. I have recently connected it to our home network and can see it on the network and have been able to get an IP address for it. I cannot however, get it to accept a print instruction. I wonder if someone can assist me? Thanks
Thanks again - I will now find out how to change the IP of the printer. Still making progress and learning a little along the way.
Yes, you are right about the ethernet and the airport being on at the same time. I don't use both simultaneously but when at home the ethernet only is employed.

For clarification, what are you referring to as "the ethernet"? A router? Such as those from Netgear, Cisco or LinkSys?

Then as long as the Airport is turned off in the Mac when you have the Ethernet connected there should be no issue. But if Airport is still turned on when you have the Ethernet connected then having two connections using the same IP subnet will create some operational issues.
