CD-RW audio disc won't import songs

I have an audio CD burner that I've been using to burn my vinyl collection to CD-RW [then to iTunes]. This used to work fine on my old G4, but I now have a G5 Quad and although it recognises the CD and even recognises the track names, it stalls when I try to import the tracks into iTunes [v6.0].

It results in me having to force quit iTunes as I get the spinning beachball with no sign of the tracks being imported. The CD-RW also works fine in the player and plays the tracks ok.

I've opened the disc icon and tried to drag/copy the tracks to my desktop and it won't even do that.

Help! Any clues or suggestions out there?

Hi,

Well, the CD-RW is brand new and bought only the other day. I do have two others [bought in a three-pack], which I can try. Bizarrely, the files look right [regular iTunes icon], appear to be a normal size [for AIFF files] and yet will not play even through the finder.

I also have a TiBook laptop which I could try this disc on - and also take it to my work - where I use a G5 dual processor too [I work in advertising].

I've also been thinking about trying the software route... do you [or anyone have any experience with/know of any software for Mac that will perform this function?
