Firefox 4. Is this happening to anyone else?

Started this post at 21:49:50, then decided to watch the Dallas - OKC game for a little while until dinner was served (pan-broiled pork chops, endive salad with toasted pecans, Danish bleu cheese and pear in a coriander vinaigrette); walked my dog, had a smoke on the stoop with the pooch while playing a game of solitaire on my iPhone (won), then came back here at 23:13:41 to see what happens (copying my post to the clipboard before pressing Add Reply)...

Same as others with latest Safari on 10.5.8 on G4.

When I come back after being logged in sometimes I will be found to be logged out. When I try to log backin I get:

9: invalid cookie supplied Unknown status code: 9

I have to delete the four apple discussion cookies to be able to log back in.

Further, sometimes when I come back to my computer I will get an error message that says Safari encountered an error and shutdown.

All this started a couple f days ago.

I've got consistency:

It happens every time the Mac goes to sleep (which I have set at 10 min of inactivity) - it doesn't matter if I don't use it for 11 minutes or an hour - if it goes to sleep, the login is dead upon wakeup.

And, I also noticed that it takes an extraordinarily long time between the click on the actual login button and the appearance of my homepage - at least 20, sometimes 30 seconds while there is a completely white/blank page showing.

Having had the misfortune yesterday of being re-directed from my (open tab) Yahoo Inbox to the (Russian?) malware site which took over the Firefox window completely (no options, no menu bar), I now consciously log in and out every time I check my Yahoo mail.

And I am starting to wonder if this behavior (getting logged out) is a new, but intentional security feature here?

It really isn't much of an inconvenience to me. I usually leave it on Your Discussions. I come back, refresh the page, see that I am signed out, click on "Sign in" to sign back in, and it takes me right back to my Your Discussions page. As long as I know to expect it, it's not bothersome to me. It just takes a little getting used to it. If they need to log us out after a period of inactivity in order to help optimize performance, it's a fair exchange, at least in my mind.

That's putting an optimistic spin on it. I think getting logged out after only thirty minutes is a bit much, though, even if it's to "optimize performance." It happened to Matt K, one of the mods, and he didn't know what was going on. So, it wouldn't appear to be happening by design.
