I own a MacBook Pro 2gHz i7 and since it has an SDXC slot I would like to know if SDXC cards can be used as recording media for Logic Pro 9 sessions and production work? I understand that the 64GB XC Class 4 card has a transfer rate of 15MB/sec... This seems to a nifty way to go and keep things as portable as possible without carrying around a large drive or drives.

Far as I know, Mac's can acccess the storage size of SDXC, just not the speed.
I got the latest top of the line 17" MacBook Pro and the SD slot is nowhere to be seen, guess that was a short lived love affair. 🙂

Seems kinda weird that you can't see the card... there is a Support doc on the MacBook Pro section that specifically discusses how the SDXC cards are seen as a USB drive...
ds store: The 17" MBP has never had an SD card slot — only the 13" and 15" models. You've got an ExpressCard slot instead, and of course you can put a card reader in that if you like.
