Built-in iSight isn't working?

Alright, before I start, I know there are other posts for this problem. I've tried all of those solutions, and none of them have worked.

Whenever I try and use my built-in iSight, nothing happens. The green light turns on, but the camera doesn't respond. If I'm using Photobooth, the green light turns on but the screen is just black and taking a picture does nothing. If I'm using programs like Skype or the Google Chat thing, the green light turns on but the camera doesn't respond. Also, with Google Chat for SURE (I'm not sure about the other ones) I am unable to hear the person I am talking to, but I can hear an echo of myself typing, breathing, talking, using the trackpad, etc. And apparently the person can hear me as well (but I cannot hear them). I don't know if this info is relevant but it's really annoying.

I went to the Apple support page for troubleshooting the built-in iSight, did ALL the suggested steps, and still it doesn't work.

Unfortunately my luck has chosen until AFTER my warranty expired on my late 2009 Macbook Pro. So thats just great.

I don't know if this is a result of something I did, or if its an internal problem with the iSight itself, or WHAT... but any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

P.S., sorry if I didn't give enough info or if its submitted wrong or something. First post.

Ok,

In here

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreMediaIOServices.framework/Resources/VDC.pl ugin/Contents/MacOS/VDC

This is all one path.

Navigate manually to /System/Library/PrivatreFrameworks/CoreMediaIOServices.framework/Resources

You will then have to highlight the VDC.plugin and then Right/Control Click to "Show Package Contents

This will open the Contents folder in a new window.

Do you have access to this Plugin ?

Is the TundraDevices Plugin also there ?

In /Library/Preferences do you list com.apple.mediaio.DeviceSettings.plist

If you use Quick Look on this does it list the TundraDevices ?

Do you have any additional Plugins for Quicktime or Add-ons like Perian ?

IN System Preferences > Displays do you get an option for the Colour range ?

In Leopard I can set Millions or Thousands.

I am sure I don't have this option in 10.6.7 on my MacBook Pro but I don't know if it is Display related or OS related.

There was an Issue with some computers at one stage (it was with iChat 3) that needed Millions to be chosen.

Hi,

ON the System side you have the Sytem (folder) then Library.

You also have the Folder called Library

In here is is the Preferecnes folders for Global things (Rather than Home (User) things)

One of these is the com.apple.mediaio.DeviceSettings.plist

There are two wasy to view this.

Quick Look is the simplest.

It should look like this

User uploaded file

i.e. the main info in it is listing the com.apple.mediaio.Tundra.DeviceSettings

The bit I remember is mio which is part of this Medio IO (Media In and Out) stuff.

I have found a few references and started you checking your System.

I am still trying to find the exact peice of info.

Opps,

Google is your Friend.

Try this http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2472

Don't forget to restart the computer.

It will recreate that .plist but will check the defaults it is supposed to have.

If it is not Plugins or Add-ons this will be the very last thing you can try before finding a car and a mate to carry the iMac.

It is late where I am (And where you are it is even later) and I may not pick up any more replies to until about 7.00 (BST) tomorrow.
