iMac 2011 27inch i7 screen flicker dark left side

Call Apple Support and set up an appointment for a fix; they ended up replacing the screen and I hope that solves the problem. It took about 4 days to get it fixed.

The left side of my screen was flickering 15 mins ago. I rebooted into windows(bootcamp) and the screen was fine there. I booted back into mac osx, and now everything is fine again. I guess this is a software issue because it was ok in windows. Does this sound familiar to somebody?? Is this the beginning of my screen going dead??

Now it's in windows too!! The left side is a little darker 😟 it's verry hard to notice though.

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

Am i going to have to pay for that since it's over 90 days?

AFAIK, it should be covered under the 1-year warranty. Alternatively, pop for the three-year AppleCare and then contact them.

My 1-year date past a couple of weeks ago, and now my screen is having the same issue. Any idea how much it will be to fix? Can I still take it to the Apple store if it's not under warranty?

Mine was still under warranty, but the invoice siad it would have cost ~$850 to replace the monitor which is likely what you need.

My 27" iMac display cost $520, with $90 for labor, but under AppleCare, zero for me. IMO, AppleCare is a must for computers and relatively cheap insurance.😉

Call the nearest Apple store immediately about it. They often will still cover something that has just barely passed the warranty. Be polite but explain the fact it just passed the one year mark.

So, I was 35 days past warranty, but when I took it into the local Apple store yesterday, they said they would replace my display and LED backlight board for free! They also said it would take 2-4 days, but I got an email this morning stating it was ready. Less than an 20 hour turnover. Impressive!

I took mine in this week to the Apple Store this week and likewise they replaced the screen under warrenty.

Add me to the list, my 27" mid-2011 3.4 Ghz i7 that was purchased 90 days ago recently started flickering, and now the entire left of my display is very dim. What a bummer..I live almost two hours from the nearest Apple store.

Well worth the trip to get it replaced. If you don't have the extended AppleCare plan, get it. It's cheap insurance for your $2K USD investment.
