Hi,

I apreciate this thread is a bit old but I found an app which might help others interested in this subject.

'Right QR' (£2.39) will scan your mac's screen for a 1D or 2D barcode (including QR codes) and then allow you to copy the code for pasting elsewhere. This is handy for me as I can now scan Royal Mail tracking barcodes from on-line postage labels generated by PayPal. As it stands (for some truely and manifestly stupid reason) I have to enter the tracking number (13 characters) by hand from the label if i want to use it elsewhere (eg email it to my customer).

Right QR will scan the generated label (prior to printing) when it is on the screen although you do have to first opt to 'Open PDF in Preview' and magnify it a couple of times before the app can read it, then scan it, then click on 'Copy data to clipboard', paste it, close the PDF and then print the label as normal. A bit of a faff but quicker and safer than keying it in manually.
