RDP Equivalent for OSX? Remote connect from PC to MAC non VNC

Hi folks. I'm trying to find the best and cheapest way to remote connect my mac from my win7 pc. I want to use something that has better than VNC quality just like RDP from windows to windows. Full quality remote software. Suggestions? Thanks.

I agree with Dave on the "best" vs "cheap". Microsoft used to charge quite a bit for RDP (a.k.a.: Terminal Server) in the past before they started including a single user license "for free" in certain versions of Windows. 😉 (You're paying for RDP since RDP server is only included in the more expensive Windows XP-Pro, Vista Business/Ultimate or Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate. None of the cheaper Windows Home versions have RDP server.)

Thinking outside the box a bit, perhaps something like GoToMyPC or LogMeIn. LogMeIn has a free version that works for PC and Mac. And there's even an iPad/iPhone LogMeIn client so you can remote control your Mac from the iPad/iPhone (however the app is not free.) I use LogMeIn and I often get better performance than VNC over slow links.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. I would have to agree with what you said as well. I have no problem paying for something as long as it works well. VNC and actually LogMeIn isn't what I'd call a "rich" experience. I'm looking for something that will feel like I'm right there at my mac like RDP does with Windows. I wasn't really too impressed with LogMeIn. I'm waiting for my trial of Timbuktu. WHat do you guys think about the Bosco Screen Share or Desktop Transporter? Looks like the latter might only be Mac to Mac. I'm really surprised there aren't more options for what I want to do. I would think it would be a common request. Any other suggestions/opinions appreciated. Thanks.

I know this is an old thread but I had to reply to this one. VNC is NOT good enough for most people. Personally I think it is so bad that I'm considering going back to windows because of this issue. This might sound a bit OTT but being able to log into your home machine from anywhere in the world with reasonable speed is an awesome feature. RDP is far far ahead of anything on the market, there is simply no comparison. It's the only remote software I know of that doesn't just send low quality jpegs (or whatever compression) across the net. RDP supports video acceleration which makes it significantly faster to the point where nothing compares. It also resizes the screen to fit the remote client, allows you to login as different users and hides the screen from other users. It also sends windows keys across such as windows key E to start explorer etc. As someone said, it's like actually being on your machine.
