Error "example.MOV" was not copied because the video format is not supported by the ipad
Hi ipad community
I've taken photos and video on my Canon G12, transferred them successfully to my ipad 2 using the SD Card to Ipad connector. These photos and videos are then available for me to play on my ipad without any problems.
When I synchronise with iPhoto on my mac (through iTunes) everything uploads from SD card to iphoto without a problem. I can play videos and look through photos without issue.
The error in the title of this posting is presented when, within iTunes I go to Sync photos (including videos - ticked). iTunes begins syncing process and then reports the error "Some of the videos in your iTunes library, including the video "name of a video.MOV", were not copied to the iPad "name of ipad" because they cannot be played on this iPad."
The next line in the error states "For a list of items that could not be copied , click the triangle below." In my case I'm up to 44 files that are being treated this way.
I click the triangle below and this reveals a list of specific files that were not copied. I specifically see ""movie_name.MOV" was not copied because the video format is not supported by the iPad "name_of_iPad"." This message is repeated for every file that did not get copied.
My concern is that these files are precisely the same ones that were imported to my ipad successfully from the SD card reader / connector but for some reason are not longer able to be played on the same ipad once the files have been sychronised back from iTunes.
Would greatly appreciate any feedback from the community on this issue if someone else has experienced the same fault. I'm certainly no Mac OS expert but I do believe I've done everything correctly - I may just be missing something really simple.
Many thanks
J
