Question

Using iPads in Conference Room (sync to follow-along)?

I am looking to create a conference room where the participants access the material on their iPads and follow-along (without getting distracted) at the pace set up by the presenter. Instead of looking up at the screens, they can follow the material on iPads as well as make notes. I saw a reference to Conference Pad app but that seems to be either limited or not updated. Has anyone experimented with new modes of conferences or instructions using iPads? Who are the app developers who may be interested in creating such apps?

As of now, this is not possible with the iPad.

I'm sure someone has tried it ... But this has been posted on here, and I've never seen a solution.

As I think about it, you might be able to share a presentation using Citrix GoToMeeting. There is an app for it, and it seems like it will allow you to run a webinar to an iPad, including presentations. Might be worthwhile for you to check out. However, they'd only be able to take notes by hiding the app (it supports multitasking) and opening a note app. Personally, I'd find it much easier to watch the presentation on the big screen and take notes on my iPad.

Why not just use an app such as Goodreader? You could sync Goodreader to Dropbox and download all files to Goodreader and then everyone could follow along using Goodreader. I'd just make sure that only the files being discussed in the meeting are the only files within Goodreader.

This would allow everyone to look at the same document - posting it on a webpage would do that as well. However, I believe the OP wants to control the viewer's iPads so they'd all follow the slides at the same time.

Best way I have been able to do this is have the presenter use a computer (mac or pc) and share and share their screen using http://join.me

Participants can download the free app in the app store and follow the creek on their iPad or computer. I has worked really well for my group. https://secure.join.me/ios.aspx
