Chris Winkler 1, greetings: Please understand that the information may not be helpful to you, but is may provide a solution to the the person who has initiated the post. Would it not be unfair to deprive said person of some potentially useful information simply because some one else objects to that information because it has not been adequate in solving their issues.

If you have problems with your MBP, you have the opportunity post your own issues and there are many people on this forum who are willing to offer their advise and expertise to you on a gratis basis. I too have been frustrated from time to time, and I have found that results are achieved employing an organized problem solving process. Venting ones dissatisfaction may offer temporary relief, bot never solves the core problem.

Why don't you start a new post stating your issues and certainly you can make mention that 'http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/sbbod.html' is not of any value to you. You may be pleasantly surprised at the responses you get (to be sure there are no guarantees).

Ciao.

I am sick of people referring to that page.

Too bad. While I don't always agree with Dr Smoke's advice, his pages are, as a rule, informative, helpful, and to the point. I see nothing wrong with "that page".

quit referring us to the generic page you refered us to.

First of all, it's not the page that's generic. Second, you don't seem to have taken the trouble to read it. If you had bothered to read, under "The SBBOD defined", the quote from the Mac OS X HIG

"The spinning wait cursor is displayed automatically by the window server when an application cannot handle all of the events it receives."

then you'd have understood the issue. The SBOD is not a specific symptom. The app cannot handle the event queue, that's all. Maybe it's busy writing to disk; maybe an underlying process has crashed; maybe it's waiting for a CD to be mounted; maybe it's waiting for some kind of feedback; or maybe it's stuck in an endless loop. The only way to solve the issue is to approach it methodically. Unfortunately, that takes time and patience, but there is no alternative.

Now that the venting phase is over, again I offer that you initiate a new post with your problems. There are many people willing and able to try and assist you. Obviously no guarantees for success, but then no financial outlay by you combined with minimal risk is a bargain tough to pass up.

Naturally the decision is yours with no obligation on your part. If not today, perhaps some time in the future.

Good luck.

Ciao.
