my phone made a call to 12345678 by it self while I was on safari! why?

While I was on safari on my iphone, my phone made a call to 12345678. To my surprise I never got the alert of "call this number".

I am alarmed because I never made the call. Has anyone seen this?

iPhone 4, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

You probably accidentally tapped a link to that number.

The iPhone recognizes numbers like that as phone numbers. They become links (blue and underlined). When you touch them, they dial the phone.
