iPhone4 shuts off at 29% 30% battery remaining

Greetings!

I have an iPhone4 around a year old running iOS 4.3.3.

I don't know when this problem started... I usually charge before hitting 30% battery. Of course the one time I need to use the phone for an emergency and don't have a charger handy I have a problem 😉

At 29% battery the phone will shut itself off and show the charge screen. If I do a hard reset the phone will come on... boot up... then turn itself off again.

If I charge the phone to 30-31% it will work perfectly fine until it hits 29%. I've repeated this a dozen times to make sure.

I've tried everything I can think of to try to fix this problem. I can't really find anyone else with the exact same problem.

i am having the exact same problem.i have an iphone 4.my phone randomly turns off even when there is 20-60% battery left.this problem started once i updated to ios7.0.3.

i was told that this problem was because i updated my software via wifi.so ill try restoring it via itunes and check if thats the solution.

i have already tried setting it up as a new iphone but it doesnt help.

i dont know if its a hardware or a software problem.

if anyone did successfully solve this problem please let me know :|

My situation has seemed to get worse.

Shutting off at 60% and showing no power when trying to turn back on, once I plugged in the charger, it immediately showed 60% on power up. It's difficult to rely on my mobile device if I don't even know when it will shut off.

I chatted into Apple Support and they ran a diagnostic on my device and stated I needed to replace the battery.

Because an $80 battery replacement on an iphone that is barely a year old just isn't an option since I don't know if that is actually going to fix the problem, I tried something else.

I turned off the Background App Refresh and at least for the past two days it seems to be better. Of course, I can't really tell because it has a mind of it's own. It's also strange that I didn't have this issue until I upgraded to iOS7 so replacing the battery just doesn't make sense to me.
