Apple TV - Netflix Streaming issue

I am having problems streaming Netflix on my Apple TV2 since Monday. I had the problem on Sat. night and later on Sunday I updated the software as there was a message about an update and then was able to watch a movie on Sunday night. However the problem reocurred on Monday and since then not gone away. Is anyone else facing a similar situation? and better still does anyone have a solution to this problem? Apple TV support any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I ended up with a new unit since after the 4 hour download of the update it was clear that something was wrong. The genius's couldn't do anything with it either. Unfortunately, after upgrading it it still gives me the same problem with netflix, and often everything else. Quick temporary fix is to stop what you are watching, go back to menu and go to settings. "forget" the internet connection you are using then set it up again. It is a pain but not a terribly long process. that seems to get it back up and netflix will then allow you to resume watching. Not an elegant fix but at least you can see your movie.

I don't have any further ideas on how to fix this problem but realized last night that it is very similar to the problem I have with my Mac. The last several updated OS have left many of us, me included, with a problem of constantly dropping the internet. I don't know what to make of this but mention it because it may give someone else a clue.

My TV continues to drop and I continue to turn it off and turn it on. I have yet to have a single issue with turning it one again directly. On my computer I found a suggestion that I use the network utility and constantly ping Yahoo. And that seems to keep it on tract reasonably well.

Hope this gives someone a lot more saavy than I am some hints.

Dom, you might want to look at where your wireless router is located and where the placement of your ATV2 is, alot of devices can interfere with the wireless signal, and in some homes the walls themselves can cause a issue because of metal tubing in the wall for wiring, etc... my Netgear router is about 10 feet tops from where my smart TV/XBOX/Wii is located, but there is something in the wall that degrades the wireless signal terribly, I even bought a wifi extender to try and remedy this to no avail, I ended up buy a powerline ethernet kit to resolve all the issue's.

This is a kit that uses your homes existing AC wiring as a network connection, for me, it is very dependable.

Also, I failed to mention, my ATV2 is in my master bedroom which is about 30ft from my router and is has no network issues via wireless, the placement of my router is about 7ft above the floor in my office, with nothing around it except one wall, this wall appears to not block or weaken the signal as does the wall in my back living room does.

Hope this helps some.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the tips, but my ATV2 is about 10ft from the router which is in the room directly above. My WiiU, 3DS, and all other iOS devices work seamlessly with no network drops, so it's only ever the ATV2 that keeps failing.

I can't see any consistent fixes on this thread though, so I'm guessing it's a combination of iOS software and router incompatibilities?

I'm getting a "There's a problem communicating with Netflix. Try again later. " Error message. Is anyone else getting this message? I first received it last night and I'm still getting it this morning. I tried logging on and off my wifi and putting my Apple Tv to sleep. I'm able to watch Netflix on my iPhone. I'm just bummed because I bought the Apple TV mostly to watch Netflix on.
