Can keynote remote app use Bluetooth?

On the product description page for the Keynote Remote app from Apple, it says that "if Wi-Fi becomes unavailable, Keynote Remote looks for a Bluetooth connection"...

A couple of questions:

1) Is there any way to force the app to use Bluetooth no matter what?

2) My MacBook Pro says that my iPod Touch is paired successfully, but my ipod touch can't seem to connect... how can I confirm that the connection is working?
