"Time Capsule and Verizon FiOS"

Where can I find information on how to attach my time capsule with the Verizon FIOS router?

I have the same gear as you and I simply could not find a way to use the second Actiontech when I was given a newer "faster" Actiontech by FIOS on last contract upgrade. I use the FIOS router direct connected via ethernet to my Airport Extreame 802.11n and have the Apple Network (LoganAirport) exended by an Airport Extreme (DONGLE) which is 802.11g I think, and the legacy dinosaur Airport Snow (Base station), but the Snow can be configured to be a slave/client to the Express

so on configuring an Airport Express or my old Airport Snow/UFO always "extend the networkr" never "create a network" as the network gets created once only by the Base Station router, the Airport Express,,

As far as assigning configurations, perhaps limiting this to allow most devices to be served on most routers but to prevent certain devices from getting on the slower or more easily congested interfaces it can be a useful feature to configure the client lists on your Airport extending routers---there is a table of MAC addreses that serves to confgure the topology in such a way...THAT IS YOU can specify which devices will interface to which which router, explicitly or which can interface to all of them and which should have a preferrred router-it might take some time but its possble if that is of use to you..

We prefer wifi devices to swap to the closest router as one roams he house with an iPhone or iPad -- but you can make that more well known by defining Client list( via the MAC addresses of each client you can specify which device is allowed to be served by which router on your Apple home wifi network.

The configuration tool allows the clients explicitly to be installed into the "client table" by clicking on "allowed clients"- a table of MAC addresses will be allowed to be entered by clickigng on devices in range or bound to some other wifi device presently can be reassigned by not placing them on the client list of the router they ar e currently using and placing them on the other client, I think they can be quickly added (if advertised correctly belive theys should be visible) - it is useful in getting more life out of older slower gear that you do not have to have the newest wifi for..

Extendning the network causes the 50 percent bandwidth losss you mention as the packets must be relayed from extending router to the base station over wife after already being sent toe the local routers your client device is interfacing with-- those hops cut bandwidth in half some times but the comment about the Actiontech connected to the Airport Express base station seting(bridging mode is correct.

- you do not want to run NAT/PAT or be a local DHCP server when that is done more effectively by the FIOS router-and besides you do not need local IP addresses like 10,0.M.N0 we use 192.168.1-18 as I have about 3 devices per family member and a TIVO DVR and 2 minis-all get served off of Actiontach DHCP and get assigned IPs either over wifi or in TIVO's case over an ethernet cable or over the Cable coax running the MOCA protocol-

- it all just works and speeds are fine--but always the halving of speeds occurs due to hops and due to WIFI itself being the biggest money maker for FIOS-as few customers bother to even run their main laoptop to the ehternet interface of the head end router-- so they wind up always being MUCH slower than whatever your FIOS download speed is as its pretty clear nobody needs to be getting QUANTUM 50MBS for many devices, its the wifi that will keep each wifi devicew ell belwo 7MBS much less 50 MBS--and as for the 50MBs good luck finding any video server even that downloads a burs moves of 4 gigabyes and avg. 50 MBs-its not likel to even come close--got to ceck trades to see if they get wat they are marketing...I hooe to unbundle and be only an interent user of FIOS-for now I only use a cable card and TIVO DVR with two TIVO Minis (got rid of 4 big honking SP clunker HD boxes and I am loving it)..good luck with the two headed Actiontech system-it may have created a loop in MAC spanning tree and red line could be a port disabled to prevent loop..not sure but I am sure I read that one Actiontech per FIOS NID i/f--almost sure? alas....hope I heled a little

I'm currently a Verizon FiOS customer so I'm stuck with their router connected to a Time Capsule in Bridge Mode. My iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV's stay connected to the network just fine but my MacBook Pro randomly gets disconnected. Under Wifi settings it says it's still connected to my Network but nothing will process over the internet and I can't access any websites. The only fix I have right now is to restart the computer and this fixes it every time, but there's gotta be an easier more permanent solution.

Thanks!
