how do i turn on my Apple Mobile Device service

i just bought a bunch of songs and now, for teh first time ever, my ipod wont connect and it says i cannot use my ipod right now because i havent turned on my Apple Mobile Device service... how to i turn this back on? because apparently something i did turned it off
