is it possible to remove apps from the purchase history in my itunes account? It's just with the purchased option now coming up under updates in the app store I would like to remove some of the free apps that I dont use.

iPod touch, iOS 4.3.2

Sorry, I don't think the apps can be deleted from Purchase History, but launch iTunes. Click Apps under Library under the source list on the left. Right or control click an app then click Delete.

You can delete the apps from your iPod touch. Press and hold an app icon then tap the circle with an x then tap Delete.

I too want to remove many of the old useless app I tried and no longer want hanging around. It should mirror the apps in my folder but not installed, but not every app I ever downloaded in my life.

Yes, I too would love this feature. I've. Tried and bought a lot of apps that I quickly deleted. I hate having them "in my way" on the purchased list.

They should add a swipe to delete function to that part of the store.

Yes, I agree. I would love this feature.  Now that prior purchases that I no longer use are now accessible through the App Store on the Update tab on my iPod, there is a hefty list of junk apps I would rather not see.  Apple, please add this feature somehow so we can permanently delete apps from our purchase history.

I too would like to see this feature implemented. I have a ton of free apps that I don't want to have to sort through to find useful apps I actually need.

Yep have a few games that give you in-game cash to download other games/apps.  So download them, open them, then delete them.  Now I have tons of 'junk' in my purchase history.

I agree as well. I'm hoping they implement some way to do this. There's so much crap to weed through.

  • dbyone Level 1 (5 points)

Agreed. Apple, please allow us to hide unwanted apps from the list or remove them altogether.

Absolutely. Where's everyones individual right to decide what goes and what doesn't??

A deleting option should really be a basic feature!!

I understand everybody's frustration with not being able to do this from the "it is my right to do this" point of view - with regard to deleting apps and app updates for this deleted apps. But please hear me out with regard to the Purchase History.

What most people fail to realize is that these records are tied into Apple's accounting system and no accounting system/software will allow you to remove a customer's purchase records from the system. If that was possible, accounting records could be inaccurate or falsified and their sales records would be a mess. As big as they are -  I think even Apple must report income to the Federal Government. The bottom line is that you are asking Apple to remove those sales transactions from their records when you ask if you can remove items from your purchase history and that just might be illegal.

This may seem like an easy fix for the end user - us- the iTunes customer - but it just isn't practical for Apple to allow this to occur. In the real world, they just can't remove records for purchases which is what this would amount to.

Removing apps and app notifications from occurring may be a different issue, but I see no way that Apple can allow users to delete items from their purchase history.

I second this request, and will do my best to add my opinion to EVERY post about being able to permanently and totally delete objects from my purchase history.

Crappy free apps that I will NEVER reinstall on any device.

Time-bombed paid apps that I will NEVER reinstall on any device - like all older versions of at Bat.

*** apple? Give me control of my devices and my purchases!

Demo - How apple manages that on the back end is their problem. If I ever want to pull something down from the could, on any of my devices, why should i have to sort through all the junk that I no longer have any interest in?

It's Not deleting them from the purchase history on apples database that I'm bothered about, It's deleting them from the purchase history on my iPhone and iPad, just so they dont clog things up.

I understand the dilemma. I am merely playing devil's advocate. IF - and I stress IF - they are tied together - I'm not sure how they can implement on the one end without screwing it up on the other end - That is all I'm suggesting. I am not necessarily defending Apple here but I'm thinking about the business and accounting side on this issue.

All I can offer is that you express your wishes to Apple through this venue. We can moan and complain on this site all we want, but Apple does not contribute here and they only moderate for abusive behavior. Give this is a shot.

Edit - sorry - originally posted the wrong link!

I would like to remove the purchased list from my phone. It is not needed and was only receintly added. If that is not possible, then Apple should allow us to hide the apps we dont want anymore. The entire purchas "cloud" is not needed.
