iTunes 10.3: an unknown error occurred (-50)

I was able to fix the -50 problem by just clicking manually manage music and videos, no other changes. Boom it worked. I am using the iCloud and a iPad2.

I" had the same problem. I downloaded a fresh copy of 10.3 from the download page, all fixed

I followed the recommendation of just repeatedly syncing. It would go a little further each time after about 25 failed syncs it synced fine. I have synced 5 more times just to make sure it worked and all went seamlessly.

Same here - iPad 2 32 GB 3G+wifi, fine before iTunes 10.3, but started producing Error -50 during sync under 10.3. Actually, it would complete the 1st step (backup), but then errorred out. I tried syncing numerous times, tried swapping USB cables and ports, then restored from most recent backup, nothing worked. Until I saw this thread about "syncing as many times as songs you downloaded from the cloud onto your iPad". Sounds a bit rubber chicken to me, but I just kept hitting Sync, and lo and behold, once it actually worked. Phew, but grrr.

iTunes breaks syncing again. Getting an unknown error -50 when I'm trying to sync the iPhone before going out is no fun. Maybe it'll al work when there's cloud syncing for music in the UK. Only books & apps are available for cloud beta syncing now.

Software Update is now giving 10.3.1 (here in UK anyway).

It was 10.3.0 five hours ago.

Run SU again. After installing 10.3 five hours ago, I just ran SU again, and it offered "10.3" again. After installing the about menu says 10.3.1

Had the same issue. Changed the name of sync'ed photoalbum from containing a "&" to "and" and it worked again.

Supposedly the 10.3.1 should fix the "-50" error anyways...

Setting songs to Manually manage corrected the problem on both my iphone 4 and iPad 2. Thanks!

I had the same issue. I was able to fix it by unchecking the "encrypt backup" button in iTunes. Then after a successful sync, I rechecked it and it ran again.

If 10.3.1 doesn't fix it, try that.

Software Update (from Menu Bar) iTunes 10.3.1 resolved my "-50" error. A happy clam again... for now. We who cannot wait, are leading the charge towards unchartered waters, clutching our rubber chickens and all.

Does anyone know if songs downloaded through icloud can be deleted directly from the iPhone/iPad. Instead of syncing with a computer?

After multiple code -50 failed syncs, I updated to iTunes 10.3.1 and now my iphone 4.3.3 syncs just fine. Looks like Apple fixed the issue fairly quickly.

Same thing for me. I have an iPad 2 and got the -50 error. I had cloud synced my iPad with an album that i purchased on my mac. I unchecked "sync music" and then hit the sync button until it went through like others had reported. Just updated my itunes also to 10.3.1 and that also seems to work just fine as well. At least apple fixed this quickly.
