Thank you, I'm glad I am not alone. Just to add my input of problems after updating my 60GB Black iPod firmware to 1.1 using my Windows XP Pro OS:

1) I use PQ DVD to iPod to convert my video media to my iPod. Those movies freeze.
2) I also purchase tons of video off of iTunes...those videos (The Office, Lost, SNL) freeze just as much.
3) Size of the video seems to matter little...I have 5 minute SNL skits and 2 1.2 hour long movies that all freeze up the controls.
4) When I say "Freeze", this includes:
- controls don't respond at all, video keeps playing
- random iPod reboots...as if I did a hard boot
- sound loss (through bottom port using Transpod & DLO dock.
- Only way to break out of freeze is to do a hard reboot

I will be calling Apple support first thing in the morning and will post what they tell me to do. There is no way they can NOT be aware of this 1.1 bug.

iPod 60GB Windows XP Pro Windows *****...I know

I think it might be a problem with how the firmware handles the file system on the drive. A Windows iPod is formatted as FAT32, even though Windows 2000 and XP can only format a drive up to 32mb (anything else has to be NTFS). Large files will write to many sectors on this drive, and there may be a bug in 1.1 that miscalculates where to write to. I have had the problem copying down a music album of 10 tracks where they all show up in the iPod menu/directory, but only one of them is physically on the drive. I have been using both iTunes and Anapod Explorer to move files down there, both of which suffer the same problem - that cannot be coincidence, the bug must be in the firmware itself.

Come on Apple, iPods were the biggest selling item at Christmas, but they don't work ???? Fix the bug quickly, switch to NTFS in the long term, or else my $400 paperweight is being shipped back!

Where did you get this format limit within XP and
FAT32 ??

My XP happily formats 250 gig drives with NO
problem......

The Windows XP Help and Support Center says that 'In Windows XP, you can format a FAT32 volume up to 32 GB only.' (Also 'Maximum file size is 4 GB.'). When I have tried to format the iPod from Windows, the only option that comes up is NTFS.

The only reason I have tried to format it is when it will not start up (the ! folders) and nothing else will recognize it either.

iPod 60gb Windows XP Pro

I just updated to 1.1 on a 60gb iPod video and encountered problems. I was very very disappointed. I've been using DVD Decrypter and the Videora conversion software to copy my favorite dvd's to the ipod, which worked fine under 1.0 software. But after upgrading, the videos would play for maybe 20 seconds, then freeze, and when I pushed play again to restart the video, it starts but there's no audio.

What a drag. I did a reset, but that erased all my media, which is painfully being reloaded now. Then, I'll see if it works and if not will have to downgrade to 1.0 - and I don't know how to do that. Running the 1.0 updater tells me I'm running 1.1 and I'm up to date, thus can't (yet) restore the 1.0 software...dammit, I'm going to band practice tomorrow and really wanted to show off my new widget...
