Itunes Error 7 (Windows error 14001)

User uploaded file

I've been getting this error for about three weeks now. It just happened out of the blue at the same time that a bunch of other programs started giving side-by-side configuration errors (like Word and Photoshop). I've searched for solutions to this on this forum and on other websites, but none have produced a good result.

When I tried to reinstall or repair the set up of Itunes or Apple Mobile Device, it gives me an error that says I do not have enough privelges to install it and asks for me to retry, ignore, or abort.

If it also helps, Apple Mobile Device does not start in Services. It gives me the following error -

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: I've tried to do a completely clean install multiple times and it still produces these same messages.

Compaq, Windows Vista

I tried every variation of fix, everytime i checked my installed updates the MS C++ 2005 redist update wasnt actually listed even though it had attempted and showed the history of installing it many times, so I can only imagine its something to do with this update not installing properly.

Like others, in the end I had to use System Restore to the day before the last MS critical update, still had to re-install itunes but now its working.

I find it shocking that Apple and MS haven't really dealt with this issue.

This did not work for me. I uninstalled everything as stated, but when I tried to install the patch I got an error stating that it is not compatible with my processor. I'm running an AMD Turion (tm) II Ultra Dual-Core Mobile M620 2.50 GHz. So I tried to install ITunes anyways and got the same messages which are: during install,

1. Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Abort Retry Ignore

Retry gets the same results,and ignore gets these messages;

2. ITunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall ITunes Error 7 ( Windows Error 14001)

3. ITunes Helper was not installed correctly. Please reinstall ITunes Error 7

My wife and I are the only users, and we're both administrators. So I don't know how much more "sufficient privileges" I can have!!! Any ideas????? I NEED HELP!!!

I have been having the same problems for 4 weeks, Have tried everything listed above several times, including all downloads, removing in correct order etc, etc,etc it is driving me nuts, Have removed and reinstalled itunes as recommended 15 times,

Who's problem is it, Microsoft or Apple, no help from either, but why did it start happening after the last update of itunes?

Cant get anything to work, and are going to try to reinstall windows after i workout how to etc etc.

Had the same problem with the patch mentioned above but was able to download one of the 3 available downloads, the rest stated it was not compatible with my processor (intel centrino).

Any luck anybody? please help
