I activate my camera and all the buttons are showing upside down; it initially shows right side up but when the shutter opens, upside down. It's confirmed when viewing the album; all shots are upside down. And the view stays stuck in portrait mode; turn the phone to the side and it should go to landscape mode, but no.

Simple, you are holding it wrong. đ
It sounds like one of the issues is that screen orientation lock is turned on.
To turn off, double tap the home button, swipe to the right and touch the icon with the circular arrow.
If screen orientation is on, that icon will have a lock in the center, if it is off, there is no lock.
As for the upside down thing.... not really certain what would cause that.
I would start with the basics of reset, restart, and possibly a restore.
Thanks Diesel! It wasn't locked but as a temporary solution, it got the orientation fixed. Ultimately, a reset was needed to fix the problem.
