How to retrieve old nickname in Game center?

Found it create a new nickname and play one of your games which is linked too gamecenter then qui the game the games will come back and some of the achivments will but not the friends

If you were forced to create a new nickname, then had to start from zero with no achievements...

Sign out of game center.

Sign into game center.

For the Apple ID: do not enter your apple ID or email address. Enter your old gamecenter nickname.

Enter previous password.

Your old nickname will now work again, with all of your achievements.

Your solution worked like a charm! I had absolutely no idea that the Apple ID field can accept a Game Center ID that works with your Apple password. This solution even works on iOS 7.1.1. After all that hair pulling I did, all I had to do was enter my alternate Game Center ID in place of my Apple ID and enter my password. So simple, and yet it took me hours to find this answer. I can't believe it was that easy.

Funny how nobody can get an answer to this problem from Apple but you found the answer and posted it here. In fact, I never see anything but users on this forum. It's like Apple Tech Support people never EVER come here. This is just a place where users go to solve their own problems themselves.

its total BS because I went through 3 tech support people 2 hung up and the last one lets see led me to this, my accounts f'''''''''g messed up help center- were NO questions get answered! It started in 2011 I assume because that was when a question was asked ..... I suggest they take my advice and delete all these questions so it would look like they are actually doing there job, NOTE To Apple Tech Support: You SHOULD begin helping us ALL starting from the Guy from 2011........ have a wonderful day :)

Hello,sorry for late reply,but my previous game centre nickname has emojis in it it was a (skull)jordan_0806(skull)....and i can hardly remember the password...i have so many game records in it and i would realy appreciate it if it worked....when i typed (nickname with skulll) and i typed all the possible passwords,it doesnt work,i dont know if its about the emoji or the password,thus,my game centre was on ios 4 before the incident and after the incident it was ios 7 (the app wasnt the same anymore)

I upgraded my software and later changed handset as the old one was having problems so it got replaced by the apple geeks. Im unable to retrieve my old nickname for my game centre account as it is showing me as my own friend. All my progress is blocked there and a new username is given to me. My apple id email is the same though but nickname is lost. Please help I have spent real money on my games and would hate to see all that progress go down the drain. 3-4 years of gameplay going to 0.

I TRIED LOGGING IN WITH THE NICKNAME AND EMAIL ID. IT LETS ME LOG IN WITH THE EMAIL ID BUT NICKNAME IS NOT WORKING.

I TRIED THE FORGOT PASSWORD THING TOO AND IT SAYS IT HAS SENT THE PASSWORD RETRIEVAL EMAIL TO MY EMAIL ADDRESS BUT I HAVENT RECEIVED ANY EMAIL YET. HAVE NO IDEA WHICH EMAIL IT IS GOING TO I HAVE CHECKED ALL MY EMAIL ACCOUNTS THAT I HAVE.
