My 2nd Generation ipod is Uresponsive, Help!

When i turn it on, and type in my 4digit passcode, it is very delayed and often freezes. Then , when it it on the normal screen where it shows my apps, it appears to be fine. It is fine when playing games, and still connects to the internet fine, however, when i try to do any form of typing, it is very delayed (just like my passcode). Also, when i try to play any music, sound, or video (even youtube videos) it does not work! Any suggestions?
