cannot connect to the app store, sign in, create account/3rd party disabled

I've spent quite a while trying.

followed discussions.

uninstalled 3rd party apps, disabled 3rd party apps - none made any difference - with or without them.

reinstalled 10.6.7.

updated from the lovely itunes 8.2.1 to the not so great 10.3.1 (but i'll get over it).

nothing. no way in.

emailed apple along the way and they have decided they can't help any more. suggested here.

anyone?

MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.6.7), 3GB RAM/750GB HD

Some folks have discovered that changing their DNS service fixes connection issues. The ideal way is to configure your modem/router with DNS service, but often settings in System Preferences/Network on your Mac will override the router settings.

Try either of these*;

OpenDNS

208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220

Google Public DNS

8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

* Use both addresses separated by a coma and a space, one is primary, the other the secondary.

you're kidding me?

really?

this is the App store we're talking about, it's an apple computer trying to connect to the apple app store. all this just to connect to it? something must have gone wrong here... i'm guessing the issue is with the original 10.6 install.

do i go into my NETWORK settings to add/change this info? do i just type those numbers in? is it secure? what does it mean?

seems OTT.

not that i don't appreciate the help, mind you.

FYI to anyone reading this...

completely removed audio hijack pro and the APE it installs. i also removed cleanapp and all of its bits and pieces.

i reinstalled from the snow leopard disk, which is actually 10.6.3.

then i ran software update and got it all back up to 10.6.8.

i also tried updating incrementally.

inbetween all these i restarted.

still no app store.

for any techie people out there i've gleaned a few terminal messages and noted this lines...

SOLVED - !!

I hadn't been out to the Mac App Store for quite a while and could not get it open this evening. It would hang at launch and removing all the suggested plist and cookie files in this and other articles was no help. I remembered that I had turned on OCSB/CRL in Keychain Access a few days ago at the suggestion of another article I read. Turning them back off fixed my App Store problem so I wanted to let the community know that that seems to be the way to go.

You are a GOD! All praise to Localboy56!!

i don't know why, some security suggestion from way back i guess, but both of those prefs in keychain were set to REQUIRE FOR ALL CERTS. i changed them both to BEST ATTEMPT and require both and appstore works!!

i;m now a but concerned that i've lowered the security on my mac.

but first i'm going to reinstall audio hijack pro, little snitch and cleanapp...

woo hoo!!

cannot connect to the app store, sign in, create account/3rd party disabled
