Hi Team- we are a school district implementing a 20 iPad pilot program. We have a single charge/sync station, and need to be able to sync all the iPads to a single profile via the charging station. Can you tell me what software to use- is there a management software for multiple iPads, or just sync all 20 to a single iTunes account?

There's only one way to do it and that is what you asked. Sync all 20 to the same iTunes account.
Do you happen to know if- on a multi-sync station like we have- you can do them all simultaneously, or must they be done individually if you can only use one iTunes account?

I don't know what your systems are like, but I'm willing to bet money that you will need to sync them individually. Each iPad will communicate to the same iTunes account as individual units tied to that account. I have never heard of syncing multiple units at the same time. That doesn't mean it's not possible, but it is IMHO, unlikely.
My son does ten at a time at his school.
Here is his reply when i asked him what he did.
"All to one computer running iTunes to one/the same iTunes account. We do 10 at a time, but only because I only have a 10-way USB splitter. Works great! Easiest 'computer lab' on the planet. "
I have a splitter, do you know how your son selects multiple ipads in iTunes? Where is the sync button for all 10?

Could you please ask your son the brand of the 10-way USB splitter and the amps of the power supply? Our class has 12 iPads and needs a way to sync them without spending $1000 on a sync station. Thank you.
The USB splitter only provide 500mA per port. It will take 14 hours to charge an ipad at that rate. I would either store and charge the 12 iPads in a NETSAFE-IPC ($670.00 where power is included) or contact someone over at www.ipadcarts.com and ask if they have more refurbished 16 port ipad syncing devices for sale with the new warranty. Those units charge and sync up to16 ipads at a very fast rate.
Most splitters won't even provide 500mA per port because they have underpowered power supplies (Can't imagine a consumer splitter with its own 5A output.) iPads probably won't charge at all. And, as for syncing, a heavy duty hub makes more sense. TexasAppleFan's advice is good.
With Apple's new (and free!) Configurator, you can do some pretty sophisticated and effective file management and syncing programs. We have tested it with some Datamation Systems hubs on 32 iPads, which breaks the 30-device barrier mentioned in the material. We have no reason to think it will not recognize and support even more, such as a 49-port hub for syncing: http://www.ipadcarts.com/solutions/DS-IP-49-SYNC.htm. Has anyone tried this?
