taking phone out of silent mode..cannot hear incoming calls

At the side of the phone is a silent button make sure it's set to being off silent and use the volume button at the at the side to turn the volume fully up.

could you please give more detail. what kind of problem do you have while taking it out of silent mode? just use the switch on the left hand side of the iphone.
