Will m7963 usb speakers harm my machine?
I understand that these speakers need a higher output usb such as the G4 cube but they do play at a low volume on my computer. Will using them harm my computer?
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

It shouldn't . If you put a device in that wants to much power your mac will tell you about it (no I am not kidding =) a window will pop up and tell you that the device you just plugged in minght not work properly because it is needs more power than the port provides.
DOGG is correct, it won't harm your Mac, but ....
... You can get externally powered USB hubs. Plug the hub into the Mac, connect power to the hub and connect the speakers to the hub. That way you should get full volume without putting any strain on the Mac.

Thanks Dogg! I picked up a pair Saturday at a garage sale for 50 cents and I love them. I read on another site that I should not use them and that didn't make much sense. Thank you for taking time to help me out! 🙂
Wow Bob! Great idea! That is exactly what I'll do because occasionally I will need additional volume. Your reply is greatly appreciated! 🙂
