External Hard Drive

Has anyone else been unable to access projects/create events on an external hard drive? I've been trying to do this all morning but FCP X seems unwilling to have the drives show up. For all the features that have been stripped away, one would think this would be easier. What am I missing?

It doesn't recognise exFAT hard drives either. I just plugged in three drives all formatted as exFAT, which it didn't recognise, but exact same model hard drive as one of them, formatted as HFS+, did work.

That's a real bummer, since I'm currently reformatting all my drives to exFAT, since it can be read on both Mac and Windows, yet doesn't have the 4GB file limit of FAT32

I'll probably have to designate a dedicated FCP X disk

Ok so after calling Apple and doing alot of trouble shooting I was able to save to my external G-Raid 2 TB HD Firewire 800 from FCP X. The problem for me was that the drive I was trying to save to was my Time Machine Backup. The FCP expert I talked to from Apple explained that FCP X could not write to a drive being used by Time Machine. Kinda of lame I have to find a new drive for my backups but after removing the drive from Time Machine and deleting the Backup files on it, the HD it worked!

...getting even weirder...now I connected a LaCie Rugged with FW800 formatted with the same Mac OS Extended (journaled) as my other ext drive..and this one works!

So.. Lacie Rugged FW800 works..Iomega FW800 not. Same formatting and I never used Time Machine (it's off from the start and there's no disk visible there)

Love the new FCP-X features..but this is driving me nuts...

Hope 'Steve' already got some geniuses on this case and fixes the bug soon.
