The Final Cut Pro X CRASH Thread

Hi, I'd like to start a thread for people that experience crashed in Final Cut Pro X.

No other Applications crashes on my Mac Pro. I have never experienced crashes like

I do now with Final Cut Pro X.

During my three hours spend with FCPX it crashed about 8 - 9 times.

The Crash reporter seems to indicate that is related to the functions that use the Video Card acceleration.

It's always OpenCL / OpenGL ...

Please Post if your's crashes, too.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), 6 Core, 8 GB RAM, Ati 5870

Mine has been rock solid mostly so far. Only crash I ran into was when I was looking through some of the additional content sound effects. When I select one of the folders I get a never ending beachball. Doesn't happen on most of the folders, just a few.

Besides that small problem everything runs quite smoothly.

Please don't post the full crash report. The crashed thread alone is enough.

Seems like I'm right with my post and it's an OpenCL problem.

Looks like Apple will screws that in 10.6.8. Tat's what they said on the the support page they now took offline again.

Bought FCP X yesterday and installed it on my i7 MacBook Pro 11.2010 with 8GB RAM.

Iimported a little mp4 (330px) and played around with it - fine.

But when trying to import a 2 GB DV Movie (which I can open in Quicktime) from my desktop it always crashes.

When I open FCP X then again it immediately crashes again.

When I trash users/movies/Final Cut Events it works again.

I tried to deactivate "copy files to Final Cut Pro Events folder" and all other import preferences.

No way, always the same

How can that be? What to do?

Submit Bug report. That is what I would do. Apple really, really reads them.

Select Bug report and tell them that it's about the new FCPX, etc.

They won't answer, but I know from a fact that they read all of them.

Crashes on movie export. I don't even get a dialog box for options. it just crashes when I select export movie.

On a side note, pinch gestures not working either. Apple, please refund or at least a store credit.

i've also seen the beachballin when looking though sound effects. soudns like it might be http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3815 it's not happening now though so I guess it was just a one-time thing

Yeah my project keeps making FCP X dump out every time I load it, this only started since I added two jpeg images to it.

Have you made sure that the images are RGB and not CMYK? Also, they may cause issues if they are bigger than 4000 pixels in width or height.

I have osx.6.8 and FCP with the update.

Still crashes implicating the graphic board Nvidia gforce 330m.

This generally happens when i play, render or scratch through a video.

Took the MBP 15 i5 (next to latest version) to the Apple store, and they said there is something wrong with my motherboard.

Hmmm.

I get no crashes with any other software.

MIght there be some "incompatibility" in my MBP?

Personally, i fear a problem with the graphics chips. We'll see.

I have an appointment to change out (whatever) on monday.

But problem still happens with update 10.6.8 and FCP.

I thought the 4k import limit was supposed to be eliminated in FCPX? Since it's no longer built on legacy Quicktime, but the new AV Foundation (which I assume they're still calling Quicktime.)

I've been wrong before. But only the once. 😉

do you remember which version of iMovie and which camera model you originally used to capture your footage?

It was a Panasonic NV-MX5000 and I used iMovie 09

There was two updates today, one for quicktime re FCP X and Snow leapord to 10.6.8. I did that, than loaded FCP X and haven't had any crash problems yet.
