Try trashing your preferences. Disconnect all other devices. Hide all projects and events. Reinstall app.

I opened Final Cut this morning, with my drive detached, and everything loaded up fine! My whole project was there and is running smoothly. But this still means that everything is on my computer and will eventually slow down again right? Do you have any advice for re-transferring all the right information onto my external drive so that I can solve future lagging issues? Thanks for getting back Tom I appreciate the help.

I am a long time FCP user and have loved this software for years , I recently installed FCP X on a spare drive and I am was shocked to see my this so called new improved version crashing repeatedly before my eyes. Thinking that there might be some easy explination or fix for my problem I began reading threads and blogs on this new version and discovered that I was not alone. My question is... why would apple release software that is obviously full of bugs and glitches and is even missing important features like save and import from earlier versions .. or what about chapter markers? what the **** is apple doing? making the public the debuggers? Would Steve Jobbs have allowed this software to be prematurely released before it has been properly debugged and completely tested and developed? I hope that apple moves quickly to fix these issues and add much needed features and improvements. for now i will go back to using FCP 7 as my main workhorse video editor and hope that apple gets it act together soon with FCP X....comments welcome...

Just got to about 98% complete on a project when my cursor looked different and wasn't acting right. Still not sure what it turned into. So I quit FCPX and reopened it. It crashed on opening. Restarted MBP and ran cocktail, still crashes on opening. Frustrating, I need to deliver this project tonight.
