Final Cut Pro 10.0 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store

Just bought FCP X out of the App Store along with Motion and Compressor. Installed it and it is working.

Motion and Compressor lists as Installed in the App Store while FCP X lists as "INSTALL".

When i press "install" it get a message that says: "final cut pro 10.0 is already installed and was not purchased from the mac app store"

and also "Do you want to buy Final Cut Pro 10.0 again?".

This is 5 minutes after i´ve bought FCP X out of the App Store. What does this mean. It´s clearly a **** up.

Will i have trouble Installing it on my Mac Pro at the office? Will i not be able to reinstall if something goes wrong?

Same thing for me and weirdly I should never even have been able to purchase as my Mac has a Radeon 2600 in! I was given no warning about incompatibility and actually it seems to work pretty well. So I'm doubly worried about updates as I have the 'install' problem and also an upgrade might fail due to the wrong graphics card.

I am having problems with both Motion and Final Cut. Final Cut is showing that I purchased it but gives me a similar error as above (that it wasn't purchased on the App Store). Motion, which I purchased through the app store last week, is not showing that I purchased it at all.

I sent in a customer service request here: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact.html?form=account#

Hopefully I'll hear back sometime this week as to why this is happening. You all should do the same if you haven't already.

I have the same issue. I contacted Apple who assure me that even if I click the 'buy' button, I won't be charged again. I tried it and you get a message saying that the application has already been purchased and installed, and that you should use software update to check for new versions.

Hopefully whatever's wrong will sort itself out over time, otherwise I'll chase it up again first time there's an update I can't install.

Tried slanz's suggestion and trashed FCPX (having backed up, of course). Had the pain of downloading it again, but it now shows up as 'Installed' on the App Store.

Also, I opened Motion 4, as suggested here http://www.dvcreators.net/make-sure-you-read-this-before-installing-final-cut-pr o-x-motion-5-or-compressor-4/

Can only think that App Store got confused with the two versions of FCP on the system, and second time round FCP7 was already in the Applications/Final Cut Studio folder, but that's just a guess.

I have a slightly different issue. I had a DEV copy of FCP X I got from a friend. Ran it on my Mac Pro fine. Decided to buy it for myself so I would get all the legal updates and all. Uninstalled the DEV Preview copy, and when I try to purchase through the app store, I get the message that my video card does not meet the minimum requirements. I have an ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 MB. And the DEV copy ran just fine. I guess I need to call AppleCare...
