I have recently purchased an iPad 2 and had read that the aluminum Apple keyboard with numeric keypad could be connected through the USB port on Camera Connection kit dongle for connecting digital cameras. I tried this but can't get the iPad 2 to pick up the keyboard. Any help from the community? I appreciate it. Joe Mecham

On Apple's Store page where the iPad Accessories are there is at least one comment from a reviewer for the Camera Connection Kit saying that he was able to connect a USB wired keyboard to his iPad.
If the wired keyboard can be connected, then i have no idea (sorry)!

Thanks for the article link. I think because my keyboard has high-powered ports it won't work. I just went ahead and ordered the wireless keyboard from OWC.
People seem to have had varying degrees of success with different usb keyboards On the iPad. The link below has a partial success story.

Keyboards have never been officially supported. I believe a recent update may have broken support through a limit to power output from the iPad. The wireless keyboard is really a better alternative for other reasons. No connector hanging off the iPad when you are using it, making portrait mode awkward.
Thanks Tom. I went ahead and bought Apple's Wireless keyboard. It seemed like the best solution.
