For a non-professional, is FCPX a worthy upgrade from iMovie?

... that diff. timezone thing, right? 😉
Exactly, or maybe I am just getting older 😐
Getting older a good thing, considering the alternative: NOT getting older. 🙂
Good point Lennart, (man skal vara tacksam för det)

Pro: I could talk to Cleopatra
Con: Stalin still 'at work' ...
... ok, I doubt Cleo talked English nor German ...
summary: getting older IS better.
thank you, Lennart, for this 2min in my life
😁
You could always export your footage, use the Magic Bullet Looks Builder externally and then re-import the corrected clip.
"Thanks. But is it $300 worth of steroids?"
Some disenchanted folks will tell you that it's not so much "steroids" as "Hemorrhoids", for to them it is a real pain in the ****.
But whilst some swear at it, others swear by it.
Taken all round it's pretty good.
Ian and Karsten you make this forum such a nice place to wisit 🙂
If it is any help I started out with iMovie and then tried some other programs, including Premiere Elements. I love the Apple interface for iMovie, though, so I prefer to stick with using iPhoto, etc. I downloaded the FCPX trail about 10 days ago and have already decided to buy it, along with Motion, when the trial is up. It's perfect for my needs. I loved iMovie but got to the point where I felt it didn't do enough. I got bored with it. FCPX has got SO much more to offer in the way of layering and customization, too.
I have a similar story as serenity99. I've been using FCP X for about 4 days and I really like it. I am in the process of saving my pennies so I can buy it when the trial is up. I liked the older versions of iMovie, but did like how the newer version looked. I didn't like it at first though. I did use FCP 6 a little, so when FCP X came out I was horrified that Apple had "dumbed it down" like that. The other day I spent a few hours looking at some free video tutorials here: http://www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial/ and after that I was hooked and convinced that it really wasn't dumbed down at all (at least for my level of requirements). Try the free trial first. I think you will really enjoy it and should feel pretty comfortable using it after working in iMovie.
