Refunds: Who has applied? Have you changed your mind? Have you had a response?

I have.

On one hand this program is currently of no use to me, and I simply don't have time to learn to use it. The money isn't a big factor for me (my concern about the future is), but if I am not going to be using it, I figured I might as well get a refund.

On the other hand I see a few nice little features which I might as well hang on to it for, and also, I can only hope, all the missing things that render it useless will come back... so I might as well hang on!

Either way, I haven't heard a peep from Apple since I applied for my refund (by three different means) yesterday at about 16:00 GMT.

Have you?

I just received an email saying that I would get my money back in 3-5 days. This was after I requested a refund yesterday morning, about 36 hours ago just for a frame of reference.

I used it more today and was starting to get the hang of FCP X although it pointed out that a lot of the things I use daily are buried in this version or non existent. I do like much of what I saw and I'll be happy to give it another try in a few months after they get it back up to speed. Apple handled this release poorly and I hope FCP can bounce back.

Us too .. we held off moving to Premiere waiting for FCPX .. usually these NLE
moves are controversial. In this case, it was unanimous. We may check in from time-to-time,

but once we re-tool, we lock in for several years.

I got my refund promised today. That is a relief and gives me at least hope that apple can be reasonable!

I will check back on FCPX in about a year when they have added the things I need. I am sure it will be a good app in the end but a lot still to do. Once it has proper import/export options for common pro footage, projects and audio and also multicam support then I'm in.

Its so strange that apple didn't realise that they could have saved a great deal of trouble and public derision if they just released it as a 2 month free public beta trial to get feedback from people who wanted it. I'm sure then most would have raved about how awesome it might be in the future and been willing to hack about a bit and tear their hair out. It took me a day to work out how to get footage from my camera in and only then with an unsupported third party bit of software. If it had of been a free trial I would not have minded a bit of frustration to give them some feedback.

People paying to be a beta tester is not a cool attitude for them to try out.

You need to make it clear which deficiencies make it useless to your needs I suspect. I don't think they are allowed to make an exception for just not liking the interface much.

However, not doing something basic like be able to work with your camera footage when the manual says it can or being able to export audio to do sound post on a project will do the trick. They can't really argue with that because they are real things you need from a "pro" app. I made a point of how the app is basically a beta and not really finished and gave examples.

I pointed out how opening old projects, edl/xml (to Smoke, etc.) and other aspects were not at all what I expected from a pro app and one that called itself by the name it was going by. I said that my last expectation when I bought it was that it would do much less than the last version. That was not announced anywhere in the materials...

Remember them comparing the two timelines of the same project in the Supermeet. I took it sort of naturally that I would be able to open my old projects (like in every version of Word since they brought it out)
