Does anyone have anything good to say about final cut x?

Hi Rabbe,
I started the "does anyone have anything good to say bout fcx"
So the new "Motion" is good? Does it work with final cut 7?
Also is the new compressor worth buying?
Avid does.
Interesting question, I would also be interested in learning if you develop using motion can you exort and then edit in FCP 7
The magnetic timeline's sort of nice. The UI looks a bit more relaxing.
I think that's all.
Background rendering seems pointless. It gets paused as soon as you start palying the video. I'd rather Cmd+R and wait for it to render.
I don't know. Other people seem to like it.

good question, can anyone confirm if the new version is actually 64 bit? it's the only one of the three that doesn't say that it is.

No, it is still 32 bit, but they have rolled Qmaster into the application now.
Reading all the negative says only one thing about these "Pro's" they are lazy.
They like the old interface of FCP, they are use to it. If one does not grow, one dies.
I like learning new software. I enjoy looking at new ways to interact with an application. As a result I own a few different NLE's and related software packages.
Laziness or the unwillingness to change are not the issues for me, nor for most of the people pointing out the problems with FCPX (which you refer to as B&Ming).
The issue for us is the fact that despite some of the innovative things FCPPX offers, fully professional integration in our workflow is not possible. I'd be happy to dive in and check out osme of the approaches FCPX has takenn, but I go back and forth as to whether it is worth $300 to do so I can't actually USE it as a professional, and I'm not sure if it is worth paying that for something I cut personal pet projects on.
So rather than attempt to put others down, why don't you take a moment to actually read and understand what their criticisms are.

That is why a lot of things are missing. More Codec and Tape support are coming with the new AV foundation, for example. Apple has to rewrite EVERYTHING.
Can you point me to an official statement supporting this? All I find anywhere is a lot of conjecture on the subject.
I would have happily spent $999 for a new 64-bit FCP that had all the studio functionality of FCP7. Sadly, we got an iMovie editor with some really hip ways for editing... many that are nice or needed... but this update is akin to buying a car and discovering it's missing the wheels, exhaust system, dashboard and steering wheel... but the stereo system kicks a**.
As we all know it is completely different from the previous version. However, it is a lot more intuitive than complainers are letting on. I suggest jumping in and hanging on. Keep your old version available and handy. So far it what I suspected which is a pretty decent learning curve. I expect it will take me about 2 weeks before I will have it down to the point where I'm comfortable with it. I don't think I will ever get used to all of these cry babies whining about all there needs not being met and they've only had it for nearly 3-days.
Ultimately it is 64 bit and it screams through processes. It's going to save me time and make me a lot more money. I'm very happy and I'm embracing the change.
I take no issue with changes in UI and processes. The issues that made our studio ask for a refund is the fact it doesn't support critical SMPTE standards for studio workflow. It was a deal-killer for us as it exists right now. If they bring back the core underpinnings and abilities of FCP7 for a multi-platform environment, including extensive deck control and 3rd party support in a real fashion... then we'll reconsider.
I am used to the old way of editing but It took me a while to do my basics on the new FCPX. I love it & I can see where they are headed with it. I did a test video for one of my clients using mt T2i & Panasonie HMC-150. It read my cameras well with no problems. I love the new time line too. youtube.com/watch?v=XMNzGRC4WBU you can see I did a test with it. I am still able to get the same look & feel as I did with the old FCP but now I can work faster.

😮 are you serious? wow, if that's really true then the biggest selling point this product had is gone for me.
Well everyone else seems to have a different opinion to me, that is they like it.
But, to be honest, I don't. I'd rather render video myself, when I'm ready and not wonder "Is it going to render yet? better open the Inspector again..."
When rendering, if you play video, it pauses. Once pausing the video, you have to wait about 3 seconds until it starts rendering again. Cmd+R doesn't take 3 seconds.
I've also noticed, that you have to be on FCPX to have it render. This is absolutely no different, in fact worse that I have to wait for a machine to figure something out. Maybe it's just me.
