Suddenly yahoo mail not working on mail app

FOUND A SOLUTION. My issue with was with receiving incoming mail from a Yaoo bizmail account. The POP server had worked fine for years, but starting about 4 days ago, Mac Mail would show the "receiving 1 of 127 messages", but then none would upload, and the receiving message would vanish after a couple of seconds.

Poking around on the Yahoo site, there was a notice concerning errors receving mail from the POP account, and directing users to empty the Spam folder for the account on the Yahoo site. It worked! Am now receiving incoming mail just fine.

After 6 hours on the phone with tech support people with ATT to no avail, I began reading this thread and your solution of emptying the spam folder solved the issue none of the techs could.

Emptied spam folder (which had less than 25 emails in it) and Mac Mail immediately started downloading email again.

Still downloading fine.

Makes absolutely no sense why it worked, but thanks for the suggestion!

I had the same problem and now it's fixed. A few weeks ago I changed my Yahoo password and entered the change (I thought!) in the Mail program on the Mac and my other devices. New Yahoo mail was showing up on my iPhone and iPad but not on the Mac. Following a suggestion in this link, I went to the drop-down box on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) and selected Edit SMTP Server List. While editing the server list didn't work, I noticed the that my password was not entered on this screen. I entered it and now Yahoo mail is coming in and going out. Hope this helps someone else.

I spent many hours and tried all the suggestions here to no avail. Then, I dropped a saved email from a folder into the Yahoo "in box" and it showed up in the box so... I went to my Yahoo account online and dropped all my current emails into a folder then in my Mac account I dropped them from the folder into the Yahoo "in box" and my emails were in the box and then it started working properly.
