Updated to 10.6.8, now I can't print

Have run applejack, reset printing system & reinstalled printer (FujiXerox 5065II with Fiery RIP), but the print Queue just keeps pausing. The error_log gives this: printer-state-message="/usr/libexec/cups/backend/lpd failed"

Does anyone have a similar problem or found a workaround?

thanks.

@davidakin,

I'm IT mgr for a Sharp Dealership here in US. The easiest fix is to download the Unix CUPS file from SharpUSA. Unpack to desktop, and open with text edit. In the ppd file, go to the last line (right before the end statement) and add this line:

*cupsSNMPSupplies: False

Place this file in %MacDisk%/library/printers/ppds/contents/resources

Install the printer using lpd, and in "print using dialog" choose other, and a finder window will open. Browse to the location of the modded cups ppd, and doubleclick on it.

The has worked to restore printing with all of out customers.

Also, I have modded a few ppds, and have some detailed instructions with screen shots located on our extranet site located at:

http://www.appalachiamail.com/downloads/MacOs10.6.8PPDs/

Please note that as will any community content, this fix IS NOT endorsed by Sharp or Apple, and needless to say, use at your own risk.

The last 3 hours I did a lot of work and got nothing.

Tried this script.

With disk utility the permissions.

Reset to the print system.

Still all printers don’t print.

The console says:

25.07.11 14:51:53System Preferences[285]Can't open input server /Users/me/Library/InputManagers/Smart Crash Reports

Time is short.

Why I pressed this button

for that update to 10.6.8?

Oh, it prints.

Yet after 10.6.8 Supplemental Update

the printers kept silent.

Attempt to restore System 10.6.7 via time machine,

got This disk does not have enough space to restore your system.

Then emptied half of the disk to no purpose.

Installed 10.6 on top, put on CLC and Apple drivers,

did Fiery Print Driver update for OS X v10.6

It prints the stuff today 2pm sent yesterday 10am.

Im happy.

Updated to 10.6.8, now I can't print
